Richard O'Meara

Richard o' Meara, was born in County Tipperary in 1946. He was educated at the C.B.S. in Doon, Co. Limerick, and at the Limerick College of Art.

He is much travelled and has studied in Italy, India and Australia.

In 1972 he was awarded first place in Ireland in a major design competition.

He has subsequently lectured at the Limerick College of Art, and he established a School of Painting at Killaloe. He is currently the Head of the Art Department at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Roscrea.

He is a keen taxidermist, and an accomplished painter, but carving is his first love. He is equally at home with stone or with wood. He has worked in sandstone, limestone, granite and marble, and countless varieties of timber.
