Imejjat, Yassine PDF Print E-mail

Yassine Imejjat

Yassine Imejjat was born in Casablanca, Morocco in 1980.

Yassine's work is inspired from the modern fashion world driven by his earlier passion to become a designer.

In Morocco however, to become a designer proved impossible as the opportunity to develop this  career did not arise for him and choices were limited. After his job as a chef ended the desire to retrieve his interest in the arts continued on even though in what direction or style he wasn't sure.

Watching art and painting programmes on TV set his idea straight to start painting as he knew he could do it even without the knowledge of the tools required and material needed such as canvas - so he used his chef uniform as a canvas along with his brother's school watercolour paints!! This was his first painting.

Desperately in love with painting and the urge to develop his work he knuckled down by teaching himself all the techniques required to make his own frames, stretching and preparing the canvas, and through trial and error got to the stage where he felt confident.

Between 2004 to present Yassine has developed his art in a modern style and has sold his work widely through Casablanca, Agadir and in Marrakesh.

Yassine moved to Ireland in 2009 where he continues to hone his skills.
