Kyne, Sara PDF Print E-mail

Sara Kyne was born in Waterford and grew up in Dublin. She attended the Froebel College and Trinity College where she completed a Bachelor of Education Degree. On qualifying, Sara emigrated to Canada because of a fascination with Native Indians. Teaching in remote communities in western Canada presented her with opportunities to paint the Native people and their way of life .The experience was a tremendously exciting adventure.

After this Sara returned home and taught children from the Travelling Community. During these years, she attended the National College of Art and Design, Dublin as an evening student ,studying sculpture, life-drawing and portraiture. She also studied art at Institute Allende, San Miguel De Allende, Mexico. She returned to Canada and spent many years there painting and raising 4 children with husband Brian. In 1996 they returned to Ireland and settled in Galway.

Sara paints varied subject matter, landscape and interiors. Often figures form the focal matter of her compositions. She has a keen interest in portraiture and she particularly enjoys painting children. She has exhibited her work countrywide, with three very successful solo shows in Galway in 1998,2002 and 2004.
