Samir Sultanov

Samir Sultanov is a visual artist, born in Baku, Azerbaijan (1969) into a family of Soviet military officers. His father is also artistically gifted and Samir’s interest in art began as a child while watching his father draw.

He has followed father’s footstep and graduated a military university in Moscow. After taking more educational programs he has been working as a lawyer.

Samir grew up loving Marshal Arts and discovered sports like a great focusing tools helping to concentrate and achieve a result.

As a self-taught artist, he has not received any formal art training. But internal passion about drawing and desire to reach a perfection motivates him to spend hours and hours to master his skills.

Over the years Samir has dabbled in many different mediums of art, but pencil is still the preferable tool for realistic portrait drawings.

16 years ago he moved to Ireland and has made his home in Galway on the West coast. Visual art has become one of the biggest joys of his life. There is so much more that he would like to try, so many new ways to challenge.

Samir gladly accepts commissions for people and/or pets, single or group portraits as well as running classes for the schools, colleges or individuals.
