Quinn, Eddie
Eddie Quinn was born in Belfast and studied art at what was then known as The Ulster College of Art and Design. Eddie has lived and worked in Cork since the late 1970’s. Known primarily as a teacher of art, many young, and not so young, artists have been inspired by the passion he exudes for his chosen field.

Eddie's own work could be divided into three main phases:

The 1970’s and 80’s paintings were drawn from his experience of the troubles in Northern Ireland. It took many years to move away from sadness and pain.

In the 1990’s, and into the new millenium, his work became more abstract, using the balance of shape and colour, flowing in an almost surrealistic fashion, straight from his subconscious, his palette becoming brighter and more vibrant.

In recent years Eddie’s art has taken a new path - into the wonders of the natural world. Living now in North County Cork, close to the Ballyhoura hills, with its mysterious forests, lakes and rivers, he has embarked on an exciting journey of exploration, the beginnings of which are reflected here, in his latest work.
