Cyril O’ Flaherty is a native of Árainn, Oileán na Naoimh, the largest of the Aran Islands, situated 7 miles off-shore. Árainn’s vistas, language, culture and tradition’s have had a huge influence on Cyril’s work. Each painting is a story and each story has stayed awhile in his mind only to be released onto the softest layering of colours from the palest hint of light to the strong lines of the darkest tones. All his paintings contain a fragment of his soul.
