My Approach ...

I use colour, forms, energy, movement, contrasts of fuzziness and sharpness, depth, emerging light and space as a visual exploration and expression of a spectrum of positive emotions, feelings and states of mind. My paintings are totally unique in terms of how they are composed and created. They are fresh, vibrant and uplifting, and presented in a modern, contemporary manner.

Each piece is the result of a process of developing multiple layers, with elements of each layer protected and other elements washed, rubbed or scratched away. This builds a 'history' in each square, each of which represents a 'moment', a 'positive moment'. The colours, patterns and depth of each piece provide you with the opportunity to create your own narrative or narratives, as you may respond differently or be drawn to different elements at different times.

Please take a few minutes to look at and absorb these pieces, and create your own narratives. Let your mind take you on a journey and tap into, or recharge, your own reserves of positivity ...!!

I have exhibited in a group shows in Ireland and the UK, including Oireachtas 1995, Kenny’s in Galway, the Brendan Kennelly Festival, as well as three two person shows (with my mother Anna Marie) in An Dámhlann Gallery in Spiddal, and two exhibitions in Mullingar, the first in 2000, where all the proceeds went to build footbridges in Honduras after Hurricane Mitch, and the second show in the Market Gallery in 2009. In October 2012, I had my first solo exhibition which was held in the Sol Gallery in Dawson Street, Dublin and it was a huge success.

and finally ...

I was born in Dumfries, Scotland in 1965 but grew up in Mullingar. Life has taken me to fascinating parts of the world and I'm now living in the village of Stamullen, Co. Meath, with Cécile, Antoine (11), Clodagh (10) and Tristan (7).
