Artist's Statement

I have turned to the corners and places less noticed or travelled on, for the subject of these paintings.

They are the hidden corners by old farm buildings, the little know lanes arched over by the blackthorn & mayblossom on the way to the boglands and old meadows. Or the tracks through woodland and along ancient hedgegrows where the wild flowers are still allowed to grow.

I have used the stoney green roads and sea paths of the burren and that must illusive of all paths - the pathway of the reseeding tide.

In all of these places I have found joy and the loveliness of natural forms and colour, which all go to make up the splendour of this tapestry, our enjoinment so often destroyed and defaced by our misuse of it and yet which can still shine through in all its splendour, when we stop to look.
