JENNY CAMPION Crafting, painting, and creating have always been integral parts of Jenny Campion’s life for as long as she can remember, and she has always wanted to explore these passions more deeply. Recently, Jenny has had the opportunity to dedicate her full attention to painting, which she finds immensely fulfilling.
Jenny has a strong passion for contemporary and abstract expressionism and is largely self-taught, painting intuitively. Creativity was a central part of her upbringing, nurtured by an interest in the natural surroundings, the outdoors, and the desire to create unique pieces for others to love and admire. She is drawn to painting in bold, bright, and vibrant colours. Although the process can be messy, it is deeply satisfying for her to translate ideas and visions into reality, often incorporating textures and defined line work with collage and spray paints for effect. Jenny primarily uses acrylic paints, oil pastels, and ink washes on canvas, experimenting with layers to create dynamic and exciting compositions. Exploring new techniques and infusing energy into each piece is what makes the process so rewarding for her.
Jenny’s home studio in County Louth serves as a haven where she can relax, paint freely, and listen to music. She draws much of her inspiration from the sea, the surrounding landscapes, and the natural beauty of her home, as well as from her extensive travels across North America. These travels, steeped in culture, architecture, and the arts, have left a significant impression on her work. The urban graffiti-style art from cities like San Francisco, New York, Philadelphia, and Chicago – places she was fortunate to visit during her 13 years working with an airline – has strongly influenced her painting style.
Jenny also enjoys collecting textiles, materials, and abstract, intriguing paper cuttings, incorporating these elements into her artwork across different mediums, further enhancing her unique creative vision.
