"The pieces I am showing in this exhibition are the result of four years working in and developing the ancient craft of batik.

Initially my work was much inspired by the rich colours and natural forms used in Persian and Indian textiles.

As my work progressed I have developed a greater interest in and an awareness of the forms and imagery in nature using fossils and shells and the theme of evolution.

I have developed a technique of disintegration working mainly with silk, and it is my aim is further this technique and to bring batik into a more contemporary footing."
