Klaus Leurer

Born in Grossenaspe, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, Leurer has been living in Galway since 2002 working as a geophysicist at NUI Galway. His main research area is found in rock physics.

Dillisc on Salthill Beach rocks, Galway Bay

The artist was captured by this composition of nature, encountered on Salthill Beach in Galway.

"The subtle colours of the rocks, intensified by the sea water that had just retreated, the relief of the rocks sculpted by the low standing sun."

The most stricking for the artist was the image of the blue sky reflected on the red seaweed (Dillisc).

Because of this pure composition of nature the artist felt a need to use a realistic technique.
