Andrew Newland

Andrew Newland was born in England and studied at Bath Academy of Art, Leeds Polytechnic and Cardiff College of Art. Solo exhibitions of his work have included shows at Exeter and Devon Arts Centre in 1988, The University of Birmingham in 1989, Bread Street Gallery Penzance and Wendy Clouse Arts London in 1990, and Century Galleries Henley-on-Thames in 1991.

In 1993 a series of paintings from Dartmoor entitled 'A Year on the Moor' was exhibited at The High Dartmoor Visitor Centre Princetown, Theatre Royal Plymouth, Exeter and Devon Arts Centre and Christie's Contemporary Art Bath.

He moved to County Clare in 1994 and held his first solo exhibition in Ireland at the Burren College of Art Ballyvaughan in 1995. This was followed by 'A Year in West Clare' exhibited during 1997 at The Kenny Gallery Galway, The Inis Gallery Ennis, The Kennedy Gallery Dublin and The Dolmen Gallery Limerick. During 2001 exhibitions under the title 'Radharc Aniar' were held at the Origin Gallery Dublin and at Siopa Chill Rialaig in Kerry.

His work has also been included in group exhibitions including the Laing Exhibition at the Mall Gallery, London in 1990 and 1993. Today his paintings are in private collections in Ireland, Great Britain, France, Germany and the USA.
