Pat Walsh

Pat Walsh was born in Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath. He attended art classes given by the wife of the late Rev. Langton May. Pat found it so much of a struggle, he abandoned it after two years. He took up the brushes again, under the expert eye of John Coyle, R.H.A. while at Blackrock College. On leaving secondary school, in 1961 to go into business in Drogheda, his interest in painting lapsed for 28 years, until he took it up again in 1980.

Since then, he has studied under such distinguished names as Thomas Ryan P.R.H.A., Kenneth Webb, Susan Webb, Pam Skerritt, Chris Jones and Dick Free. He has exhibited in many group shows. His work is in private collections in many parts of the world and in the public collection of Premier Periclase Ltd. He has sold extensively to the United States.

He retired from business in 1989, and is now devoting his time to painting and writing. To date, he has one book of children's stories completed, but still in manuscript form, a large collection of poetry, half a novel, shelved for the time being, and another novel being researched and written with its background in the Midlands and Connemara in the early 1950's.

Pat's hobby is gundog training and country walks. He has trained his labradors and handled them successfully at many events both nationally and internationally.

He is married to Dorothy, they have five children, one girl and four boys.
