Exhibition of Paintings
by Ros Harvey
5th - 25th November 1999
Guest: Nollaig MacCongail
The youthful impressions of a Malin childhood have enabled Ros Harvey to capture the vivid and rugged elements of the Donegal landscape with its great variety which is the essential focus of this artist. The subtle shades of smoke and reflections on wet sand to the dramatic intensity of a breaking wave or stormy sky, they are all masterly handled in these pictures. With her studio situation in the most northerly part of Ireland, Ros has been successful in bringing these primary elements into her paintings.
"For this second exhibition at The Kenny Gallery, I have continued with my fascination for the wild and beautiful Inishowen coastline and environs. I have especially been captivated by the changing shadows, reflections and shimmering lights and how they play around with the visual images which appear confusing at times and almost unbelievable.
The flowing and overflowing rivers have also ensnared me in their excitement to rush headlong to the sea and I have only been able to grasp a few fleeting moments of their lives. I hope, through these paintings, the viewer might catch a glimpse of the Silent Images which have excited me."
